We know that EDEN™ means Everyone Deserves to Eat Naturally™, but God gave me another way of thinking about EDEN™, which is Everyone Doing Everything Necessary to make a positive difference.
What is EDEN™ about? Yes, it is about jobs, good nutrition, healthy food, small business training in urban agriculture and food handling. However, what lies at the heart of this initiative is what we can do together to make sure that Ward 8 is not only in the news for the sensationalized violence that defines the lens through which our communities are perceived. We are bringing hope, positive change, and, most importantly, involving the community to make sure that the light of EDEN™ will not go out. That light will shine brightly to tell somebody, anybody, yea, everybody that we can make a difference with a vision, direction, commitment and a spirit of challenging the darkness. We are Everyone Doing Everything Necessary to make a positive difference in Southeast, in the District, and every community-at-large that EDEN reaches a hand of support towards.
I sincerely thank God for all that we have been able to accomplish here together in a short period of time. I also thank all of you for your support during the strained times we have endured, navigating what it means to gather churches, Christians, non-Christians, universities, nonprofits, entrepreneurs, scientists, professors, lawyers, preachers, land owners, children, young adults, senior citizens, volunteers, friends, family, and neighbors under the umbrella of this social enterprise… It is because of how you have sowed into this ministry that we need you more than ever.
