Summer Youth Employment

Lawrence and Kwesi building hoop house4In 2013, EDEN employed six youth as its first effort at creating job opportunities in Ward 8 through urban agriculture.  In 2014, we anticipate hiring 10 youth through the summer.

Inner city youth will learn critical skills needed in urban agriculture and environmental sciences to support the production of fish and fresh fruits and produce. These youth will also have the opportunity to learn about nutrition and food safety, obtain licensing (18 and older), and be engaged in the small business entrepreneurial training components of Project EDEN™. Youth work full time during the summer and earn an hourly wage.

Participants must apply through DC’s Summer Youth Employment Program. Please check their website for application dates.
